Tools we actually use
Manufacturer-level scan tools that read pending, stored, permanent and freeze-frame data; perform bidirectional actuator tests; reset adaptations and service modes; and access non-engine modules (gearbox, ABS, airbag, body, instrument). For HGV and agri work we use multi-brand commercial tools with the relevant brand-specific software loaded.
Engine management faults we diagnose daily
EGR valve sticking, intake manifold flap motors, swirl flap issues, MAF/MAP correlation faults, fuel rail pressure regulation, injector balance and dead-time issues, glow plug control modules, turbo actuator failures, DPF blockage vs sensor faults, AdBlue/SCR system faults, lambda heater circuits, knock sensor faults.
Transmission and chassis diagnostics
DSG/PowerShift/ZF auto adaptation values, mechatronic faults, clutch wear data, ABS pump and sensor faults, steering angle sensor calibration after geometry work, airbag fault retrieval and module reset (where legally permitted), and tyre pressure monitor reprogramming.
Why generic scanners aren't enough
A £30 reader pulls a P0299 (turbo underboost) and you swap the turbo for £900 — when the actual cause was a £40 boost solenoid or a split intercooler hose. The manufacturer scan tool would have shown you the requested vs actual boost trace and told you immediately.
Mobile diagnostics across Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Port Talbot, Chepstow and Cwmbran
Most diagnostic visits are completed in under 90 minutes on-site. Pre-purchase scans are quicker — usually 30–45 minutes including the report.
