Tuning is where craft matters more than tools. Here's what we actually change — and how we know it's right.
Most modern vehicles ship with a pedal map that gives only 40% throttle at 50% pedal — soft, lazy, comfortable for new drivers. We can rewrite the curve so the pedal feels linear: 50% pedal = 50% throttle. It transforms how an otherwise standard car feels.
DSG (VAG), PowerShift (Ford), ZF (BMW/Range Rover/JLR), Aisin (multiple brands) and many CVTs all have ECU-controlled shift maps. We refine shift points, line pressures, lock-up clutch behaviour and torque limiters in coordination with the engine map — essential when raising engine torque.
Cruise lambda targets (petrol), injection duration and timing (diesel), overrun fuel cut behaviour, cold-start enrichment scale factor. Small calibration changes yield steady real-world MPG gains without compromising drivability.
VNT (variable geometry) diesel turbos and waste-gate petrol turbos can be calibrated to build boost faster — reducing perceived lag dramatically without raising peak boost or stressing the turbo.
